How to Get to The Inn At Virginia Tech

Commencement Schedule
Virginia Tech's Spring Commencement ceremonies are structured to honor graduates from all colleges:
University Commencement Ceremony
- Date: Friday, May 16, 2025
- Time: 8:30 a.m. (Gates open at 7:00 a.m.)
- Location: Lane Stadium
- Featured: All graduates will be recognized together at this main ceremony
College and Departmental Ceremonies
Various colleges will hold their individual ceremonies throughout Friday afternoon and Saturday. For the most up-to-date times and locations, please verify on the official commencement schedule.
Parking Information
Finding parking during commencement weekend can be challenging with thousands of visitors on campus. Here's what you need to know:
General Parking
- All regular Virginia Tech parking regulations are suspended during commencement weekend
- Campus parking lots are open to visitors on a first-come, first-served basis
- Arrive early, as spaces fill quickly, especially near ceremony venues
- For official information, we recommend that you please verify on the official commencement parking and entrances page.
Accessible Parking
- Designated accessible parking areas are available at all ceremony venues
- A valid state-issued accessible parking permit is required
- For Lane Stadium ceremonies, accessible parking is available in the Stadium Lot and Chicken Hill Lot
- For Cassell Coliseum ceremonies, use the Cassell Lot

Prohibited Items
To ensure safety and comfort for all attendees, there are several prohibited items. Please check the prohibited items list for commencement page. Security screenings will be conducted at all venue entrances. Please plan accordingly and allow extra time for entry.
Tips for a Memorable Weekend
For Graduates:
- Arrive at your lineup location at least one hour before your ceremony
- Wear comfortable shoes under your gown
- Consider bringing a small water bottle (clear, sealed)
- Remember to silence your phone during ceremonies
- Make plans to meet family at a specific location after the ceremony
For Families:
- Dress for the weather, as some ceremonies may be outdoors
- Bring sunscreen, hats, and water for outdoor ceremonies
- Consider carpooling to minimize parking challenges
- Charge your camera/phone fully before ceremonies
