The dynamic Blacksburg community is thriving with artisans and craftspeople.  There are numerous options available for music, theatre, and galleries of varying media.  There are also many cultural sites within and around the Town that reveal the rich history of this area. Sites within Blacksburg include the original layout of the Town’s “Sixteen Squares”, Historic Smithfield Plantation, The Huckleberry Trail, Solitude, and the Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech.

Within the region, there are many other sites of interest to be explored. The Town of Blacksburg was a founding member of the New River Heritage Coalition, a collaborative effort among cultural sites from the region. Some ‘Must See” venues for arts and entertainment while in Blacksburg include:

The Taubman Museum of Art – located in nearby Roanoke, Virginia, the Gallery features exhibitions by multiple artists spanning various types of media from photography to sculpture.

The Lyric Theatre - Since 1998, the Lyric has operated a not-for-profit movie theatre and community center in the heart of downtown Blacksburg. They are located on College Avenue across the street from Virginia Tech's main campus.

Virginia Tech Events – The University offers concerts, dance classes, and more!  Stay up to date with this calendar.

Festivals - There are numerous festivals and events planned throughout the year.  You can view the Town of Blacksburg Calendar of Events to stay up to date.  Some of the most popular festivals are:

Fork and Cork - Annual Food and Wine Festival - usually takes place on the last Saturday in April.

Steppin’ Out - Annual Street Festival takes place on the first weekend in August.

Blacksburg Brew Do - A craft beer festival, featuring beers from more than a dozen mid-Atlantic breweries, culinary delights from local restaurants, brewing demonstrations, live entertainment, tailgating fun, and the culmination of the annual Brew Do Home Brew Competition.
